Esslets

For my offspring

The one with eyes like the dawn,

Still limned with midnight, always

Cloaked in shadows.

People would tell me

“She has an old soul”

Well, you should see

The bloke see sucked

It from, mate. She

Keeps it in a jar.

Don’t you mess with my Ez.

The one with the eyes

Like summer skies.

My golden princess

I thought you were

Too precious for

This dark and nasty world,

But you wrestled it to your will

Anyway, and spat in the eye

Of foul disease on the way,

Like the hero you truly are.

The one with eyes like the sea

Ever changing and shifting,

From grey to golden green.

The smartest monkey

In the jungle,

You have weathered storms

That would break others

Yet you still stand fast.

You are my pride and yet,

Always my night night, baby.
